Lisa Jayne Bloomer
From a very young age I was drawn to and had an "intuitive" affiliation with the evocative and creative world of painting. During my diverse artistic studies I was strongly influenced by the work of Jasper Johns who went "against the norm" during the time of Pop Art.
My own work covers a wide range of subjects all of which enable me to explore colour and its tonal values. I love to experiment with an array of hues and my current work shows how I have drawn upon experiences gained from travel to "vibrant" and "exotic places" such as Peru and India.
In all my work my aim is to "engage" the viewer in the emotions that colour can evoke. My work has been exhibited in different venues, however since moving to my present studio where I paint and teach I prefer people to view my work in situ. This enables the viewer to see the diversity of subject matter and to talk about or question the processes involved.
To see where I have, & will be exhibiting my work outside of my studio, please refer to my Exhibitions list.
I welcome you to my world. Enjoy.
Work in Progress
As colour is one of the key ingredients for my work, the richness of contrasting hues in India did not fail to inspire me. I am presently using this information gained to convey the juxtaposition of colour in my everyday scenes of India and these can be seen in my current work.
